Description

In response to the social disruption witnessed in 2020 and other preceding events, leading foundations such as the Ford Foundation and other grant-makers across the nation are affirming a renewed commitment to award grant funding that strengthens organizations' internal and external efforts to address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as they carry out their missions and serve their intended populations. With this in mind, this session will offer concrete strategies for more effectively addressing DEI.

As a result of participating in this session, attendees will successfully achieve the following learning objectives:

-         Understand commonly accepted definitions of DEI

-         Identify examples of DEI grant funding by national and/or regional foundations

-         Identify areas where DEI can be addressed within their organizations

-         Identify new language and terminology for describing service models and organizational accomplishments

-         Identify resources and toolkits to further their understanding of DEI

Attendees will be able to use this information to more accurately describe organizational efforts to address DEI and they will be able to develop new language and verbiage to more effectively describe the populations they serve, their internal efforts, and their service delivery models.
