Major gifts have become a staple of fund development, but the same attention has not been given to a nonprofit’s largest private grants.

This webinar will define and describe a way of thinking that puts emphasis on an increasingly necessary mindset: how to go about securing your organization’s largest foundation and corporate grants. The first part of the session will focus on defining the term major grants and explaining why it’s advantageous to think of your portfolio through that lens. The second part will highlight key activities that can bolster progress in securing major grants.

Rather than take all questions at the end, the format will intersperse delivered content with time for questions. This approach will ensure that participants understand the new terminology before moving onto the next section. 

Presenter:
Susan Schaefer is a consultant, speaker, and author who founded Resource Partners to help nonprofits secure major corporate and foundation grants. Her work has been featured by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, BoardSource, and Candid, among others.

Prior to her consulting, Susan served as National Director, Foundations at the United Negro College Fund, where she was part of the small team that designed and secured the historic Gates Millennium Scholars, a $1.6 billion program funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She writes a regular series of articles called Major Grants.
