Join us for a four hour event where attendees will gain insight on the practical use of DEI in the grants profession. Start the event off with our keynote speaker and follow it up with our breakout sessions from our wonderful speakers. This is sure to be an event to remember!

The Magic of Being Differently Disabled
 

Kamille Richardson, Co-Founder of iSee Technologies, is a highly sought-after keynote speaker, panelists, MC, and presenter. As a published author and Wellness subject matter expert, she’s worked with a range of companies and organizations, including The Walt Disney Company and the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, delivering her energetic and captivating keynote “The Magic of Being Differently Disabled” that curates actionable awareness, inspiration and allyship by highlighting the capabilities of all people versus our limitations. Having been being born blind, Kamille has leveraged her many talents to build her company and help illuminate the successes and challenges of the blind and differently abled community, while encouraging her audiences, clients, and partners to thrive.

Kamille served as the Vice President of Community Service for the National Federation for the Blind and is a 2023 recipient of the Health Equity Action Leader Award presented by the National Minority Health Association. She’s also an esteemed member of several economic empowerment groups including, Black Women in Radio, Every.Black, and the Women’s Entrepreneurial Opportunity Project. Kamille is an alum of the 2023 class of Leadership Raleigh and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Through her dedication to developing others, Kamille was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism.

 

Breakout Sessions:
Inclusive Language and Messaging for Grant Writers

Morgan Carpenter is a nonprofit consultant, grant writer, and author of “Prepare for Impact: Everything You Need to Know to Win Grants and Super-Charge Your Nonprofit.” She serves on the board of GPA’s Colorado Chapter as Marketing Committee Chair and as a volunteer Court-Appointed Special Advocate. Morgan has been recognized as one of northern Colorado’s 40 Under 40 young professionals and received the Elena Lawrence Inspiration Award for her work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

 

Jamie (aka JR) Rasmussen is a community organizer, communications strategist, planner, and engagement specialist. She has more than 12 years of experience in marketing, advertising, and communications for global brands. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration at Colorado State University, where she was also a trained facilitator with the Center for Public Deliberation. 

 

India Phoenix is an educator, marketing & communications specialist, and facilitator. She has worked on strategy and communications for schools, nonprofits, and start-up businesses, including planning, development, and design. She holds a Master's in Leadership and Development from Penn State Great Valley and leads marketing for a grassroots organization serving BIPOC communities in northern Colorado.

 

Increasing Equity in Grantmaking

Dave Holmes is Educational Programming Manager for Candid, based at Candid's Midwest office.  He conducts national public and contract trainings virtually and in-person, and coordinates data services and training for Candid’s Midwest partners.  

 

He returned to the Foundation Center (now Candid) in 2015 from a position as Senior Consultant at Grants Plus, writing grants and doing research for a variety of large and small nonprofit clients. In his initial nine-year tenure with Foundation Center (1995-2014), Dave served in various roles including Regional Training Specialist, Interim Director of Foundation Center – Cleveland, and Director of Capacity and Leadership Development.

Dr. Brandi Rae Hicks has over 20 years of experience as a grant writer, consultant, and fundraising diversification specialist. Her background in grantsmanship and entrepreneurial experience positioned her with a unique perspective to support nonprofits, tax-exempt organizations, and small businesses with the growth of her clients' $1 Billion fundraising portfolios. Dr. Brandi is a trainer for the Georgia Center for Nonprofits and Grant Professionals Association, and she is in the 33rd cohort of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business.
