Description

Webinar Description:

For those grant professionals tasked with finding and securing funds from private funders, the world of foundations (or other non-public funding sources) can seem daunting. Often, there are no uniform guidelines, no explicit submission instructions, and most don’t have websites or working phone numbers. Many are not even accepting unsolicited requests for support. How is a grant professional supposed to navigate these uncharted waters? With over 20 years working with private funders, David Broussard, GPC will provide insights in how to approach and engage these funders.

In this presentation, we will:

  • Give a recap of the first webinar including key differences between public and private funding, how to approach and get the most out of research, and how to best prepare for engagement;
  • Discuss the four different types of gatekeepers that you will encounter;
  • Share examples of language to use and not to use when making an initial call on a foundation;
  • Hear examples of when strategies worked, when they didn’t, and how to follow-up or mark as “not pursuing.”
